Firebase is state-of-the-art for Auth as a service. Some known alternatives are the following: - https://auth0.com/ - https://github.com/netlify/gotrue - https://aws.amazon.com/cognito/ Personally, I built a simple Express server with Passport JS and I re-use it for my projects. It took me almost 1 week and I had very little backend dev experience. The main reason was to eliminate the external services / cost I use for my indie products! However, I'd recommend Firebase to get your job done in no time!
